Robert David Kinard

Duncan, SC – Robert David Kinard passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. He was the son of the late Ray and Edna Boiter Kinard and the loving husband of Debbie Fuller Kinard. Born in Whitmire, South Carolina, Robert lived a life defined by service, dedication, and a deep commitment to his community and country. A proud graduate of Newberry College, he earned his master’s degree cum laude in 1973, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in accounting. Robert honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-4). During his service, he worked as a radio operator and Morse intercept operator, including service connected to the Israeli Six-Day War. He continued his lifelong dedication to service as a member of the South Carolina State Guard from 2002 until the present and was very proud to have had the opportunity to serve at the 9/11 site with the SC State Guard. From 1996 to 2016, Robert was self-employed as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. He was widely respected for his sharp mind, integrity, and genuine passion for numbers. His professional leadership included serving as past president of the Institute of Management Accountants Spartanburg Chapter and past president of the Foothills Chapter of Certified Public Accountants. Robert gave generously to numerous organizations. He served as past treasurer of the Middle Tyger River Lions Club and was a member of the Spartanburg Community College Board of Commissioners from 1993 to 1998. He was also past commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Adam Ballenger Camp #68, and a member of the American Legion. A man of strong faith, Robert was a devoted member of The Church at The Mill. He was also a mason, life member of Roseboro Lodge No. 195 and a Shriner with Hejaz Temple. Above all, Robert will be remembered as a dedicated accountant who loved his work, a true American patriot, and a man whose life’s mission was to help and mentor others. He gave freely of his time, knowledge, and wisdom to anyone who needed guidance. Robert never hesitated to support, teach, or encourage. Through his generosity and genuine care for people, he impacted countless lives, shaping futures and inspiring those around him to be better. His legacy of mentorship, service, leadership, and kindness will continue to live on in all those he helped and influenced. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jay Fuller and Terri Hardin (Greg); grandchildren, Madison Fuller, Taylor Blackstone (Carson), Lukas Pence (Kelsie), and Riley Pence (Karsyn); and his great grandchildren, Hayden, Maddie, Reagan, Blakely, Jameson, Memphis, and Jagger. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the Chapel at The Church at The Mill. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 PM.
