Jacob Gary McGinnis

Spartanburg, SC – Jacob “Pooh Bear” McGinnis, 25, passed away on May 31, 2026. He was the son of Dale McGinnis (April Prince) and Tina Chandler. Jacob cherished his family and especially adored his nieces and nephews, who brought him immense joy. Throughout his life, he formed meaningful connections with many people and left a lasting impression on friends and strangers alike. Jacob was kind-hearted, compassionate, and genuine. He was opinionated and honest, often telling people exactly what he thought, whether they wanted to hear it or not. Yet those who knew him best understood that his honesty came from a place of sincerity and care. If Jacob loved you, he loved you wholeheartedly, with a loyalty and devotion that never wavered. Professionally, Jacob was an accomplished phlebotomist who took great pride in his work. His dedication earned him numerous certificates and achievements throughout his career. Outside of work, Jacob found happiness in the simple things he loved most like tending to his plants and garden, caring for his many animals, and spending time with those closest to him. His nurturing spirit was evident in everything he did, whether helping a person, rescuing an animal, or helping something to grow. Jacob will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and the love he shared with both people and animals. To know Jacob was to know someone who never turned away an animal or person in need. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Joseph (Jessica), Meagan (Austin), Emiley, Alex, Jason, Colby, and Gracie; aunts and uncles, Tommy McGinnis, Richard McGinnis, Travis Thomas, Christina Lovelace, Ashley McClure, Kevin Penfield and James Penfield; nieces and nephews, Joseph Dale McGinnis, Jr., Emma Rose Taylor, Braylon Ryan McGinnis, Anna Michelle Taylor, and Kylar Lane Patterson; grandparents, Sonya Alverson, Ronald Dale McGinnis, Myra Hicks and Todd Harvey; his beloved furbabies, lil bit, Bailey, Brownie, Skylar, Sadie, Drako, Lola, Reece, Jake, Domino, Garfield, Minkie, Chena, and mama and daddy rabbit; as well as many other cousins, friends, and extended family members. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory. A Celebration of Life will begin at 4:00 PM. Larry Teachey will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward the cost of his funeral service to Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory.
