    Robert Alan Funke

    July 17, 1948 - March 25, 2022

Lyman – Robert “Bob” Alan Funke, 73, of Lyman, passed away, Friday, March 25, 2022. He was the loving husband of Carol Lynn (Corll) Funke and the son of the late Francis and Jane Funke. Bob was born in Manchester, Iowa on July 17, 1948 as Robert Alan Wulfekuhle and lived in Ryan, Iowa until he was 5 years old. At 5 years old, he, and his older brother John, were adopted by their mother's husband Francis K. Funke, upon his return from Korea. They then relocated to the Funke Farm north of Greeley, Iowa. Two years after graduating high school, Bob and Carol were married in Greeley, Iowa on November 23, 1968. Bob began his career at Fisher Controls (now Emerson Electric), in Marshalltown, Iowa, as a Draftsman, and worked his way up to Engineering and Management roles. As a General Manager, he lived and traveled extensively, including the U.S., Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Hungary, and Brazil. After 35 years, he retired and Bob and Carol relocated to Cherokee Village, Arkansas. They spent 11 years in Arkansas and moved to Lyman, South Carolina to be closer to their grandchildren and other family. He was a member of the Elks, loved restoring classic cars, and watching NASCAR, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by his children, Nanette Funke Goode (Mike), Scott Alan Funke (Amy), and Mark Chambers of Australia; grandchildren, Stacey, Emma, Aidan, Isaac, and Jordan; and siblings, John, Joe, Dan, Jane (Funke) McGill, Bill, and Chris. A Celebration of Life is planned for April 2, 2022 from 2pm– 4pm at M&J's at the 4-way Restaurant located at 1100 Gap Creek Rd, Lyman, SC.
