July 3, 1952 - April 1, 2019
Dr. Kelvin “Kelly” Louis Krank, 66, of Lyman, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019. He was the loving husband of Patricia “Patti” Downey Krank and the son of the late Jack and Betty Krank. Kelly attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas followed by the University of Houston. He continued his education at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, followed by a residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. After residency, Dr. Krank moved back to his beloved home state of Washington and worked as a doctor of Internal Medicine associated with Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA. After leaving his private practice, Dr. Krank became a Hospitalist, practicing medicine in a hospital setting. He loved this very demanding work because it challenged his brain and fulfilled his desire to help people on a whole new level. He had a real gift of diagnosing difficult diseases while at the same time showing compassion to his patients that left them feeling secure in his hands. He practiced this profession at several hospitals in the Seattle-Tacoma area, and finished out his time there as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Madigan Hospital in Tacoma,Washington. During their last four years in Washington State, Kelly and Patti spent four years as Directors of Freedom Session Olympia, ministering at True Grace church. This ministry of healing to the brokenhearted made him feel more alive than any of his other accomplishments. He said you could heal a body and give it a little more time on earth or you could heal a person’s soul and the healing lasted for eternity. In 2014, Kelly and Patti moved to South Carolina and in 2018 they followed their dream and built a lake house on Lyman Lake. This past four years Dr. Krank practiced as a hospitalist physician with Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital and he and Patti partnered with Lifesong Church in Lyman where they felt so loved from the start. In addition to his wife, Kelly is survived by his daughter, Joy Rebekah Serio and her husband, Andrew; his daughter, Bethany Faith Englund; his brothers, Kyran, Kenneth, Kevin, and his identical twin brother, Marvin.
