November 28, 1948 - February 28, 2022
Jane Louise Pease (“Janey”) was born to the late Gene and Ralph Wilson, a homemaker and pastor, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on November 28, 1948. Janey grew up in Salinas, California, then made her way east to the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas and eventually settled in the Carolinas. A musician, poet, and lover of all art forms, Janey graduated from Biola University with a degree in music and from the University of Arkansas with a Masters of Education. She taught private piano lessons for over 40 years to students of all ages. She worked in private practice counseling for 14 years and taught as an adjunct professor at Gardner Webb University, Limestone College, and Troy University in the latter half of her career. Combining her passions of music, therapy, and education, she obtained an Expressive Arts Therapy certification and her Master of Music Performance from Appalachian State University. Janey loved the Blue Ridge Mountains and made her home in Rutherfordton, NC, for the last 16 years. A devoted Christian all of her life, she served God in many different ways, especially through her singing and piano-playing. Most recently, she sang in the choir at First United Methodist Church and often played the piano at Sunday services for FUMC and other local churches. She was a faithful student of God’s word and drew strength from the Scripture. Janey loved music, swimming, teaching, and gardening and was a beloved ‘Ama’ to her six grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind heart and compassion for others and will be dearly missed by her loved ones. Janey is survived by her four daughters, Ami Stearns, Carrie Cline, Erin Kelley, and Megan Butler; her grandchildren Zack Reeves, Elijah Kelley, Rowan Kelley, Jacob Cline, Evan Kelley, and Emilie Cline; and her brother Doug Wilson and sisters Beverly Henry and Marilee Ruebsamen. When you lie down you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:24 Memorial services will be held at: First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton, NC 264 N. Main Street, Rutherfordton, NC, 28139 Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
