Lyman, SC – James Franklin Apperson, Sr., (age 85) of Lyman (formerly of Brandywine, MD), passed away at his home on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Jim was a proud US Navy Veteran and a retired Plumbing Inspector with WSSC. He loved to hunt, fish, and watch his favorite movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” along with his westerns. He also loved playing cards and working on his leathercraft. He was the loving husband of the late Evelyn (Lorraine) Apperson of 62 years of marriage and son of the late Leo & Dorothy Apperson. He is preceded in death by his son Jim, Jr. and daughter in law Deanna, a great granddaughter Lilly and his twin brother Johnny and siblings Dwight, David, Bobby, and his baby sister Shirley. Jim is survived by his children, John Michael Apperson (Lisa), Stephan Edward Apperson, Tina Marie Marcus (Steven) and Donald Mitchell Apperson (Cindy) and his siblings, Dorothy Apperson Canterbury, brother Edward Apperson, sister Edna Apperson Barbour. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren with one additional granddaughter on the way. Friends and family will be received for a memorial service on Thursday, February 24th at Kneeling Point Chapel 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, LaPlata, MD 20646 from 10 – 11 AM with services beginning at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 1:00 PM at 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, MD 20746. Memorial contributions in James’ name may be made to the American Heart Association or The Hospice Association.
