Catherine Lucille Allen Yeomans

Greenville, SC -- Catherine Lucille Allen Yeomans, 89, peacefully entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on June 28, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Callie Smith Allen, and the devoted wife of 50 years to the late Joseph D. Yeomans. Catherine’s life was a radiant reflection of love, service and steadfast faith. She became “Moma” or “Grandma” to many, whether by blood or by heart. Her life’s calling was clear: to care, to comfort and to offer Christlike love to those around her. From a young age, Catherine embraced the role of caregiver with grace and selflessness, tenderly tending to her parents, brothers, husband and anyone in need of anything including a listening ear or a warm embrace. Her home was always open, and her heart even more so. A gifted musician, Catherine faithfully played the piano and organ for over 70 years, many of those years spent joyfully serving at Westview Baptist Church. She loved to play and taught her children to play, sing and love music as well. Serving the church and our savior Jesus Christ through music became the heartbeat throughout her entire family, kids and grandkids. Catherine began her professional life at Liberty Life Insurance Company, where she formed treasured, lifelong friendships. Later, she brought her talents and tender care to the world of tax preparation, serving others with kindness, accuracy, and a servant’s heart. Of all her roles, Catherine most dearly loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and poured herself wholeheartedly into every moment with them. Anyone who entered into her home remembers her biscuits and gravy, delicious meals always served with love, homemade ice cream and many stories that she shared joyfully and with extreme accuracy. She always drew us in and kept us willingly. Her sweet tooth was rivaled only by her sweet soul and a love for all things pink. Whether solving word searches, jigsaw puzzles, coloring, reading her Bible and devotions, or simply sitting quietly. Catherine found deep joy in life’s simple pleasures shared with her family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lisa Landreth (Lee) and Kim Blackwood (Mike); her grandchildren, Jason Landreth, Michael Blackwood (Sarah), Abbey Blackwood (Will Kainer), and Graham Blackwood (Grace Wyatt); and her beloved sister Ann Cooper, affectionately called “Sister.” She also leaves behind her dear sisters-in-law, Annette Allen and Linda Allen, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were like family. She now rejoices in Heaven with her husband, Joseph, and her siblings: Clemon Allen (Marcelle), Ed Allen, Frances Hufflin (Marion), Margaret Aldrich (Dee), Helen Martin (Albert), Fred Allen, lovingly called “Son,” twins Larry and Harry “Hab” Allen, and Johnny Allen. Catherine leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep faith and a love that changed the lives of all who knew her. Her laughter, her warmth and her unwavering belief in the goodness of God will be carried forward in the hearts of those she loved. To celebrate Catherine’s joyful spirit, the family invites all attending her service to wear something pink in her honor. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 5:00–6:00 PM at Westview Baptist Church, 28 Jamison Street, Greenville, SC 29611, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 6:00 PM. Interment will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westview Baptist Church, 126 Oakwind Circle, Greer, SC 29651, in honor of Catherine’s faithful service and lifelong ministry of music and love.
