Alan Clyde Shuford

Greer, SC – Alan Clyde Shuford, 50, of Greer, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on October 25, 2023. A Lincolnton, North Carolina native, Alan was a loving husband and father, and is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Julie Knighton-Shuford of 21 years, and his daughter, Jordan Kelleigh Shuford, who he was most proud of for following her dream to become a cosmetologist. He was a member of Northwood Baptist Church. Alan attended Gaston College and graduated with an Associates Degree in broadcasting and communications. In his early career, he worked as a DJ for many radio stations before moving on to work in communications and transportation. Although Alan truly loved working in broadcasting, his last job he held dear to his heart; Alan was an animal lover and spent a short time working with West Spartan Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician. He truly had a servant’s heart and loved his family dearly. This would shine through in many ways; most notably in a bone marrow donation to his brother at 12 years of age. Alan selflessly helped save his brother's life and allowed him to live many more years. Alan was well-known for his love of music and singing. He loved all genres but his favorite was Southern gospel. He knew many southern gospel singers and at one time sang lead in a gospel quartet and owned his own recording studio "Outback Recording Studio". He also sang at his church. Alan was also a die-hard Tarheels and Braves fan. GO Heels! Alan will be remembered for his fun demeanor and positive outlook on life, and most importantly for his love of his Savior, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Whitner Shuford and Patricia Richard Shuford; and his brother, Thomas Richard Shuford. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Northwood Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2 pm and fellowship will immediately follow. Pastors Malcolm Lance and Tony Pearson will officiate. Feel free to dress casually and wear Tarheel blue in honor of Alan if you wish.
