Opening in the spring of 2008 Living Waters Funeral Home is one of South Carolina’s finest and newest funeral service facilities. We are located between Greenville and Spartanburg on Hwy 29 convenient to the Upstate’s major population centers. We are easily accessible by personal visit, telephone or this website and prepared to serve the needs of our community. Mark and Paula Patterson’s dedication and devotion to family, friends and church is now extended to the greater community. Living Waters will never be considered merely a business venture, but a place of remembrance and hope where lives are celebrated and personal relationships are strengthened. Our experienced and compassionate staff is available to assist families during their time of loss.

Mark Patterson, owner and housing developer, went to Byrnes High School and graduated in 1981. He lettered in football for 3 years, entered University of Georgia in 1984 and graduated with a BSA in 1985. At UGA he lettered in 1984 for the Bulldogs football team. He married Paula Daves July 6, 1985. Mark went into business with his father Ray Patterson where they ran an equipment business and he then started developing land and subdivisions in 1998. From 1998 to the present he has owned several businesses including Pat’s Corners, Pat’s Storage, Stars Sports Academy, and Patterson Developing. Mark started construction of Living Waters Funeral Home and Crematory in November of 2007 which opened in April 2008. He has been involved in church as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. For the past 20 years he has been involved in missions and has travelled all over the world with Carpenters for Christ and Lifeline Faith Ministries. For 2 years Mark felt the Lord was inspiring him to build a funeral home. Through much prayer and planning the Lord blessed and he was able to obtain the property at 529 Spartanburg Highway South where Living Waters Funeral Home and Crematory is now operating. Mark’s goal and heart’s desire is to be able to help people when they are going through some of their toughest times; to be the servant God has called him to be. Mark writes, “We are here to help and to share the love of Jesus any way we can.” Paula Patterson, owner, is a graduate of the Funeral Service Program at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC. A former teacher, Paula is also a graduate of the University of Georgia. Paula and Mark have three children; Amber, 23 years old, Chelsea, 21 years old, and Kaleb, 16 years old. Amber is currently a nurse at Regency Hospital in Greenville, SC. Chelsea is a Senior majoring in biology at the University of Georgia. Kaleb is a Junior at James F. Byrnes High School where he is the kicker for the football team. Paula’s hobbies include reading, photography, music, and watching baseball, softball, and football when her children are playing the sport. Elaine is a graduate of USC Upstate and Converse College in Spartanburg. Elaine taught in the elementary schools of Spartanburg District 7 prior to her retirement in 2003. She has one son, Todd, who is a Firefighter and business owner. She has 6 years of funeral experience. Elaine serves Glendale Baptist Church as organist and faithful member. Timothy McCraw, CCNA, is a 2007 graduate of Spartanburg Community College with an Associates’ Degree in Computer Operations and Networking. Tim currently holds the Cisco CCNA certification. He also holds the SCVU certification (Sony Certified Vegas User) in video production software. Glenda Sharp is a 2008 graduate of the Funeral Service Program at Piedmont Technical College. She is Naional Board Certified. She is married to Sammy and they have two daughters, Samantha and Savannah. Samantha is married to Logan Davenport and they have a beautiful baby girl, Hailey who is 7 months old.
